Organization charts in PowerPoint 2011 are just one of the many variants of SmartArt graphics you can insert in your slide. An organization chart graphically represents the management or hierarchical structure of an organization. This is great if you want to illustrate the reporting relationships in your company or organization. Make sure you choose any of the Organization Chart variants that the SmartArt option offers:

  4. Now that your slide layout has a content placeholder, click the Insert SmartArtGraphic button among the six buttons in the content placeholderthat you can see highlighted in blueinFigure 2.

    Alternatively,if you want to insert an Organization Chart in an existing slide that has nocontent placeholder, you can follow any of the following two methods:
    1. Select the InsertSmartArt Graphic menu option, or
    2. Click the SmartArt tab of the Ribbon (highlighted in red in Figure 3).

  5. Any of the methods explained above will bring up the options within the SmartArt tab of the Ribbon - in this tab, locate the Insert SmartArt Graphic group which includes several buttons that represent various types of SmartArt graphics as you can see in Figure 4.

  6. Now, click the Hierarchy button (highlighted in red in Figure 4) to open the Hierarchy SmartArt drop-down gallery as shown in Figure 5. This gallery provides you with some Organization chart variants. Hover the cursor over any of the previews and you will see a tool-tip displaying the name of that SmartArt type as you can see in Figure 5. Select any Organization chart of your choice and click on it.

  7. This will place the selected Organization Chart on your slide, as shown in Figure 6.

  8. Once the Organization Chart is placed on the slide, click on the TextPane icon (highlighted in red in Figure6 above) to openthe text pane (see Figure7).

  9. Any text content added or edited within the text pane shows up within the Organization Chart as well.
  10. Save your presentation.

When arranging content on slides, you can toggle several alignment features on and off in PowerPoint 2011 for Mac. These features are designed to help you place objects in alignment with each other or to an invisible grid on a slide.

Rulers

Toggle Rulers on and off by choosing View→Ruler on the menu bar or by right-clicking in the slide area (but not on an object) and choosing Ruler from the contextual menu. When nothing is selected, a line in each ruler indicates the current cursor position. When an object is selected, its position is shown in the ruler.

Guides

You can toggle certain guide tools on and off by choosing View→Guides from the menu bar or by choosing Guides from the contextual menu you see when you right-click in the slide area in Normal, Slide Master, or slide design layout in Slide Master view.   • Dynamic Guides: When these guides are turned on, as you drag objects slowly on your slide, guide lines will automatically appear when the selection border of the object you are dragging is perfectly aligned with another object on the slide.

  • Static Guides: Turn these on to display a blue horizontal line and vertical line — the static guides. After positioning an object, drag the static guides to match the position of the object. The guides stay put so you can align other objects along the same line.

  • Snap to Grid: When toggled on, this option causes objects to automatically align to an invisible grid as you drag them slowly. When toggled on, as you drag an object it will move in small increments rather than smoothly.

  • Snap to Shape: When Snap to Shape is turned on, take these steps:

    1. a.Drag an object to a position that's close to being aligned with another object on the slide.

      If Dynamic Guides are also on, the Dynamic Guides appear a little sooner than when Snap to Shape is turned off.

    2. b.When you see a Dynamic Guide, you can let go of the mouse, and the object you're dragging aligns itself to the other object.

      It might feel as if the Dynamic Guide is pulling the object you're dragging away from your control. The Snap to Shape option is subtle, but it could have just enough effect to make life easier when aligning shapes to each other. Film serial turcesc havin doua vieti o dragoste.
